The Chesterfield County School Division is governed by a five-member School Board. (See Appendix F for a complete 2000-2001 Organizational Chart.)

The School Board is responsible for establishing policies and providing support for quality educational opportunities for all students. Members of the 2000-2001 School Board:

A complete analysis of the existing Chesterfield County School Division School Board Policy Manual and related documents can be found in the Recommendations section. The Site Visit Team notes that a full revision is currently underway. See also Commendations.

Model policy statements in each of the following areas are included in Appendix E of this report for School Board review and consideration as they rededicate themselves to the revision of Board policy:

The availability of the on-line (read-only) School Board Policy Manual is of particular importance in large, growing school systems such as the Chesterfield County School Division. As the Chesterfield County School Division School Board Policy Manual is revised and improved, efforts should be continued to keep an on-line manual current and available to all School Division personnel as well as to community constituents.
